Kraków Concerts Schedule 27-05-02.06

I have never imagined that it takes so much time to scan a 500 GB hard drive to find bad sectors :) I did manage to get back all of the lost data, but my computer is unavailable for service these days, I can't seem to force myself to write on other pc. Fortunately the there's no shortage of live events (the Mikrokolektyw and Shipp / Mateen duos last week were absolutely brilliant). Here are my propositions for the following days.

28/29.05 Opalińska & Whates at PIEC'Art
The polish-british duo's music is wonderfully intimate and subtle. You can read more about it in my review of their debut album "Lumere".

29.05 Barry Guy / Maya Homburger / Lucas Niggli at Mocak (Krakow Autumn Jazz Preview)
One of the leading bass players in the word of improvised music is also as well a brillian performer of baroque music, accompanying his wife Maya Homburger playing baroque violin. The duo is joined by percussion master Lucas Niggli. The must-see of the week.

30.05 Mateusz Pałka Trio at Piec'ART
A group consisiting of the young talents of Krakow jazz scene with Alan Wykpisz (High Definition) on bass and Grzegorz Palka on drums.

02.06 Volume (Trzaska / Friis / Jorgensen) at Alchemia (Jazz@Alchemia series)
This trio, in a way, put Mikolaj Trzaska on international free-jazz scene a decade ago. I'm extremely curious to see them play together again.

02.06 Gawęda / Wykpisz / Dobosz Experiment at Piec'ART
Youth jazz scene in Krakow is thriving and this band is yet another example (rhythm section is known from High Definition quartet).

26.05-02.06 Krakow Film Festiwal
As if there weren't too many difficult choices to make already, you can follow the film festival, music lovers might be particularly interested in the "Sound of Music" selection as well as such festival selection like "Gilad & All That Jazz" (a documentary about Gilad Atzmon) or "Miłość" (about the tri-city yass group "Milosc" that consisted of Leszek Mozdzer, Mikolaj Trzaska, Tymon Tymanski, Jacek Olter, Maciek Sikala, each of whom went on to have a huge impact on the polish jazz scene in its own way).
